I can't believe it, but I have great news! Kathleen Burke, Director of ASCD's Annual Conference accepts our offer and wants us to work with ASCD to develop a 3 year plan! More to come in the following days.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has. Margaret Mead 10:45 A.M. EDT, 5.5.08

ASCD Proposal Deadline: May 5, 2008 (Noon, EDT is our target.)

Sunday, May 4, 2008, 7:30 A.M. (11:13 A.M.) (4:15 P.M.) (8:15 P.M.) (now 5:30 A.M.) EDT
28 (24) (20) (16) (now 6.5) hours to go and counting.......
Massachusetts, USA

Good morning (afternoon) (evening) (now morning) my friends,

Learning Beyond Boundaries is a growing community of educators who want to move Web 2.0 into the mainstream education conversation. As of the moment I am writing this message, 20 (24) (27) (32) (now 36) educators have "signed" the collaborators' page and 32 (35) (41) (now 42) educators have joined the space. I am so pleased at this initial support for our proposal!

I am encouraging ASCD leadership to consider our proposal seriously by visiting our wiki to
  • read our proposal, watch the videos embedded in it, and check out the links at the bottom of the page,
  • read The Conversation page to understand what collaboration looks like online, and
  • view the Collaborators' page to realize that there are committed educators from across the planet who support the proposal.

A big request: By Monday at noon (EDT), I am asking for your help with three things.

  1. "sign" the collaborators' page if you haven't yet,
  2. get one or more people in your network who agree with the proposal to "sign" the collaborators' page (I'd like to break 50 collaborators by noon, 5.5.08 ~ maybe too ambitious, but if everyone can work getting one friend to sign ... maybe...)
  3. (and I know I'm pushing it here, but...) on the proposal page at the bottom, add a link or two that will help the ASCD leadership to understand the capacity of our educator online network.

I know you are all busy. If you can hang on and contribute in the next day and a half, we can put our best foot forward and show ASCD we have a lot to offer their membership: 175,000 educators from 119 countries and nearly 60 affiliates.

Thank you for your help with this project.

Regards,
